38-The Widow's Offering (The Widow's Two Lepta)

In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, One God, Amen

Lesson No. (38)

References:
Luke 21:1-4.

Notes for Servants
-How great is the virtue of almsgiving. It deserves our appreciation. The Lord said, "He who is
kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed." ( Proverbs 19:17.)
-The Saints understood the supreme power of this virtue so they pleated with others to accept their
alms. God does not look at the quantity but He looks at the quality. Almsgiving should result from
true love. The Lord praised that widow but He did not praise the rich. The widow expressed her
love for the Lord by these two lepta.

Story Time
The Lord Jesus Christ went into the Temple. He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts and
offering money and other things in the treasury. They put in a lot of money. Then, The Lord saw a poor
widow came last, walked to the treasury and there she put two lepta. She was happy to do that. The
Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples, "Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them."
The people asked, "How can that be, each one of us has put at least one dinar." They did not
know that the Lord Jesus does not look for the amount of money but He looks for the heart. The Lord
Jesus gave them a lesson. He said to them, "This poor widow has put in more than all of them, for they all
contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all her saving that she had." The
widow was happy to do that. The Bible says, "For God loves a cheerful giver."
