Story Time
Jesus commanded his disciples to stay in Jerusalem until they receive the Holy Spirit. The
Pentecost is one of the Jewish feasts, people come from allover the world to celebrate the feast in
Jerusalem. They call it the Planting day and all the Jewish people offer some of their wheat to the temple.
This feast comes 50 days ahead of Easter.
On the day of the Pentecost the twelve Disciples, together with some men and women spent the
day of Pentecost in a house praying, waiting for the Holy Spirit as Jesus promise them.
Suddenly, a sound came from heaven. This sound was like a strong wind blowing loudly, and
filling the house. Then the holy Spirit came down from heaven as tongues of fire and laid down on each
and everyone of them. When they were filled with the Holy Spirit, they began to speak with other
languages. They were given this power to spread the Word of God to everyone.
When the people who came from all over the world heard the noise, many of them were gathered
around the home where the disciples were. They listened St. Peter’s speech and were amazed of how the
Galilean disciples know their languages. Many of them believed and received the Holy Spirit as well.
Note:
+ Peter's speech as an example of the act of the Holy Spirit.
+ As a result of this speech, three thousand believed and joined the church and were baptized.
+ The servant should give the students some idea about the prayer service in the night of Pentecost;
"But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father inspirit and
in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him" (John 4:23).
