Notes for Servants
-Jesus Christ said, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls." The Lord teaches us to obey the government and the
authorities. We must be honest and faithful. He says, "Be faithful unto death and I will give you the
crown of life." (Rev. 2:10)
-The Lord Jesus Christ who loved us and gave Himself for us teaches us when He says, "Learn from
me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart... and you will find rest for your souls."
Objectives
General: Obedience.
Specific:
The children will be able to
A. understand obedience in Christianity.
B. love and obey his elders, his parents at home, the church authority and Sunday School
teachers.
C. learn to obey all the authorities, such as school system and the police.
Bible Verse
“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”
( Matt 22:21 )
Teaching Aids
A model of a fish - a hook - string.
Instruction
(1) Review last week's lesson.
(2) Who remembers the verse?
(3) Remind the children about the church occasions for the coming week.
(4) Servant may ask the following question: Who collects taxes? Why are taxes collected?
(5) Teacher should prepare the appropriate questions to emphasize the objectives during the
lesson.
Story Time
The Lord Jesus came to Capernaum where He stay. The tax collectors asked Peter if Jesus will pay
the taxes. Peter went into the house to bring the money to pay the tax for himself and for the Lord Jesus.
The Lord meet Peter in his way. Peter told Jesus that he is going to the house to bring money to pay
the tax collectors for both of them. The Lord said to Peter go to the sea and cast a fishhook, and takes the
first fish coming up and when he open its mouth, you will find a piece of money in it.
Peter went, as the Lord said, to the sea and cast his hook. Peter caught a big fish. He opened its
mouth and, surprisingly, he found the money as Jesus said to him. He was very happy and went back fast
to pays the taxes for Jesus and himself.
Discussion
1 - Follow up the story by talking about it with the children.
2 - Continue the discussion while the do the activity.
