23 - The Good Samaritan
Introduction:
What do we do if we find someone hurt? We call a grown up to help. What if this is not our friend? We still do the same. What if he is someone that is not so nice to us and sometimes does not help us? We still do the same. Because we should always love everyone.
Lesson Outline:
Jesus told this story to the people to teach them a great lesson on loving and forgiving. Once upon a time, there was a Jewish man travelling through the mountain, no trees and no water. Some robbers grabbed him, beat him up, took his money and left him on the roadside hurt badly. He could not move or get up. It was not long until a Jewish priest came by. The injured man could not speak or cry to ask for help. The priest said, "I know this man but I am in a hurry, and I do not have time to help him." So he did not help him but went on his way. After a while a deacon passed by and saw the man, but he looked to the other side and did not offer any help and went on. Then, a Samaritan man stopped. The Samaritans and the Jews were not very good friends. They did not like each other much. The Samaritan man knew that the man who is hurt is a Jew but he loved to help other people and give to the poor. As soon as he saw the hurt man, he felt sorry for him. He went to him, cleaned his wounds, and put bandages on them. Then, he put the man on his own donkey and took him to a hotel and looked after him. Next day, the Good Samaritan gave the people in the hotel money to look after the hurt man and told them that if they needed more money, he would give them on his way back.
Jesus wanted to teach us that we should help and love others all the time. Jesus told the people that he is very happy of what the Samaritan did and he called him "the good Samaritan". We too should love and help everyone.
