42 - Jesus Walks on Water

Introduction

What is a miracle? What does it mean to have faith in your heart? Who can take care of you all the time?

Jesus can do everything He is the Son of God. When we have faith in Jesus, He can help us do lots of things too. We always have to listen to Jesus and do what he wants us to do. He can always keep us safe. Do not be afraid Jesus is always with you

Lesson Outline

Jesus was with people just about all the time. But once in a while He wanted to be alone to pray. One day, Jesus decided to go off by Himself and said good-bye to the crowd He had been talking to. Then, He told His Disciples to enter into the boat and go ahead of Him to the next town. He said, “I will follow you later.” Jesus went to the hills and there He took time to think and pray. Later in the evening, He went back to cross the lake and to join His Disciples. The Disciples were in their boat far out on the water.

The wind was blowing hard against the boat. The Disciples looked very tired from rowing in the wind and they could not get to shore. Jesus didn't have a boat, so He stepped onto the lake and started to walk towards the boat. He was walking on the water!

The Disciples were troubled by the storm. Then, they saw someone walking on the water. The sky was dark and it was hard to see. When the Disciples saw Jesus walking on the water, they thought he was a ghost. They became very scared and they screamed. Jesus said to the scared men, "It is I, don't be afraid." He said to one of his disciples, Peter, to walk to him and he started walking to him. But when he started to not have faith in his heart he started to sink. Jesus pulled him out and he told him that he has to have faith. Then Jesus and Peter stepped off the water and into the boat. Then, the wind stopped blowing and the water calmed down. It became easier for the Disciples to row their boat to shore.

How surprised the Disciples were! Who could walk on water? Who had such power? The Disciples looked at each other. They didn't know what to say. Jesus was surely a special person. He was the Son of God.
