46 - Thanking God
Introduction:
Know that God has given us many blessings, understand that everyone has difficulties, and learn that God is there to help us. Let’s count our blessings then let’s think of someone who does not have something that we have and thank God for that thing that we did not think about! We have to be thankful for the lives we have and for the many blessings God gives us. Even if we have problems or things don’t go the way we want we still should be thankful because God is with us all the time.
Lesson Outline
One day, Beary the bear and Jerry the mouse had an argument. It all started when Beary said "it must be easy to be a mouse. Nothing to do all day but snooze and eat cheese," Beary laughed. “What an easy life!” "Not as easy as being a bear," Jerry snapped back. "Nothing to do but snooze and eat honey. What an easy life!" Actually, neither Beary the bear nor Jerry the mouse knew what they were talking about.
Jerry and Beary were both very tired and soon they fell asleep. Jerry dreamed a strange dream. He wasn't a mouse at all. He was a bear, just like Beary, a very hungry bear. "Honey! That's what I need," said Jerry in his dream. He started through the woods, looking for honey. Before long, Jerry saw honey in a big hole in the side of a big tree. "This will be easy," he said. So, he started to scoot up the tree. But when he reached the honey, he saw that something else was there. "Bees!" said Jerry. "Millions of them! They’re coming after me." Jerry, who was now a bear, tried to climb down the big tree. But he moved so fast that he fell with a bump.
“OW!" He shouted. The bees had caught up. Jerry ran as fast as his legs could go. He had never run so fast in his life. When Jerry saw the pond, he jumped into it and stayed under water as long as he could. As soon as he poked his nose above the water, a bee stung it. Then the bees finally went away.
While Jerry was having this strange dream, Beary had a strange dream, too. Beary the bear dreamt that he was a mouse. He was very hungry. "Cheese!" said Beary, who was now a mouse. "That's what I need! Lots of cheese." Before Beary could find cheese he met a cat. The cat called for all his friends. Suddenly there were tens of cats that all began chasing Beary. Beary ran as fast as he could go. The cats ran as fast as they could go, too. The cats almost caught Beary when he saw a pond. He jumped into the pond and stayed under the water as long as he could. As soon as he poked his nose above the water, a cat scratched it. Then, all the cats ran away.
Then, Beary and Jerry woke up. They began to laugh. “I’m so glad I’m a mouse!” Jerry said. “And I’m glad that I am a bear.” Beary answered.
Beary thanked the Lord that he is a bear, and Jerry thanked the Lord that he is a mouse.
