Story Time
This is a story of a man of God whose name is Elijah. He loved the Lord, obeyed Him. During a famine, the Lord sent Elijah his food with the ravens.
One day Lord said to him, "Now go to the town of Zarephath, near Sidon and stay there." God commanded that Elijah live with a poor widow and her son at Zarephath. Elijah stayed with the widow in the upper chamber(a small room at the top of the house where Elijah used to rest and to pray). The Lord provided flour and oil according to their needs and the Lord blessed her home.
One day, the widow's son was playing outside the house. When he came back, he was very ill. The boy was crying because of the pain. His mother ran to him, took him and laid him on a bed. She hoped that the boy would get better, but the days passed and the boy's health did not improve. His illness was very serious and his temperature rose up. The boy’s condition kept worsening until he died. His mother wept bitterly because she had lost her only son. The widow carried the dead body to Elijah the prophet and said, "My son has died. I beg you to pray for him and I am sure that the Lord will answer your prayer and restore my son’s life.
Elijah sadly took the boy from his mother's arms and carried him to the upper room. He laid the boy on the bed where he used to sleep. Elijah bowed down to the earth, then raised his eyes and hands to heaven and prayed. "O Lord, I ask you to bring this boy back to life.” Elijah stretched himself out on the boy and then bowed to the earth in prayer and repeated the same words three times. The child started breathing again and revived. He opened his eyes and stood up.
