10 - Abraham Receive Angels of The Lord
In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, One God, Amen
Lesson No. ( 10 )
References
Genesis 18:1-16.
Notes for Servants
★ Abraham believed in God. He knew the true power of God and his own
weakness as a man, so he lived with God and humbled himself before
the Lord. Because of this, Abraham deserved to enter the divine
fellowship.
★ The signs of this fellowship are:
a) He deserved to entertain the Lord Himself. You can also
entertain the Lord when you help the needy to whom the Lord
calls his brothers.
b) The Lord revealed Divine secrets to him, "Shall I hide from
Abraham that thing which I do." (Genesis 18:17).
c) He deserved to take liberty when he spoke with God.
★ As for you, you have the liberty of a son in this age of grace. So be frank
with the Lord, struggle in your prayers and be faithful to Him.

Story Time
Abraham was a very righteous man of God, who was very wealthy.
The tents he owned and lived in were very big and he had 318 slaves and
many servants who worked for him.
On a very hot afternoon, Abraham, who was 100 years old, sat at the
door of his tent under a big tree. He looked up and saw three men standing at
the entrance of his tent. As soon as he saw them, he ran out to meet the three.
Bowing down with his face touching the ground (as that was the sign of
honouring and saluting people in those days), he invited them to dinner. He
forgot about the fact that he had a great status in society. He only thought of
entertaining these three strangers. The three men accepted Abraham’s
invitation.
1. How many men did Abraham see?
2. Why did he bow before them?
Abraham brought some water for his guests to wash their feet. Then
they sat under a tree to rest and waited for dinner. Abraham hurried into the
tent to prepare food. He said to Sarah, "Quickly, take a sack of your best
flour, and bake some bread." The type of bread which Abraham told Sarah to
bake is actually baked on hot stone. In the process, the dough is turned on both
faces in order for it to be well cooked. Then, Abraham ran to his herd and
picked out a calf, killed it and gave it to a servant who hurried to prepare it.
Abraham prepared the food and put the bread, meat, butter and milk before the
three guests. They ate their meal and Abraham stood to serve them. This
shows how generous and hospitable Abraham was.
While the guests were sitting, one of them said to Abraham, "In nine
months, I will come back, and your wife Sarah will have a son and you will
call him Isaac." Now Abraham was sure that his guests were angels from
heaven and one of them was the Lord.
The three men thanked Abraham as he walked them out of the tent.
The Lord walked slowly and said to Abraham, "I will not hide from you what
I plan to do. Let me tell you. The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah is very great
and I hate wickedness. Therefore I will destroy the two cities."
Abraham was sad and he pleaded with the Lord. "Will you destroy the
righteous with the wicked?"
The Lord answered, "If there are fifty innocent people in Sodom, I will
spare the whole city for their sake."
Abraham spoke again, "Please forgive my boldness in continuing to
speak with you. Perhaps there will be only forty five, sorry, perhaps there will
be forty... thirty... twenty..."
The Lord answered, "I shall not destroy the city if I find twenty
innocent men."
Abraham said, "Perhaps there are ten."
"If there are ten, I will not destroy the city," replied God.
"Oh! We can’t find ten innocent people in the city!" He shook his head and
said, "Lord, you are just." Abraham kept silent.
The class should take the time to pray for the salvation of the world.
Pray for the families and acquaintances of the students. Pray for church and
the country. Pray for our fellow Copts all over the world, that the Lord may
bless them and keep them.
