Story Time
A long time ago, there was a young girl, her name was Mary. She had been promised in marriage to a man named Joseph, she lived in a town called Nazareth. One day something unusual happened to her while she was praying, She saw a bright light and then Archangel Gabriel appeared to her and told her, "Rejoice, be happy, God is with you."
St. Mary was a little afraid, she asked the angel what did this mean, "Why do you tell me these strange things?" The angel said, "Mary do not be afraid, God is very pleased with you and you are going to have a baby boy and his name will be called Jesus."
St. Mary was surprised to hear these words and she asked, "How can this be?" The angel told her Jesus will be a holy baby, He is the son of God. The angel also told her good news about her cousin Elizabeth, she was very old and also was pregnant with a baby that she wanted for a long time. St. Mary told the angel, "I am God's servant. May everything happen as what God wants." After that the angel left her and she was very happy.
St. Mary knew that her cousin Elizabeth is an old woman, and she never had children before and she will need help. She could not wait, she hurried to visit her cousin Elizabeth who was staying in a town in the hills. When Elizabeth saw her coming she was very happy and she was suddenly filled with the Holy Spirit. She ran to welcome Mary and told her: "You are blessed among women you are the mother of our Lord. When you greeted me just now, my child leaped for joy inside me. How important it is for a woman to believe in God, for you and I are proof that God can make wonderful things happen!"
