Story Time

Jesus commanded his disciples to stay in Jerusalem until they receive the Holy Spirit.  The twelve disciples, together with men and women spent the day of Pentecost praying, waiting for the Holy Spirit.

Suddenly, a sound came from heaven.  This sound was like  a strong wind blowing loudly, and filling the house.  Then the holy Spirit came down from heaven as tongues of fire and laid down on the house, where the disciples were gathered, and set upon each of them.  When they were filled with the Holy Spirit, the disciples began to speak with other  languages. They were given this power to spread the Word of God to everyone.

Jewish people from all over the world came to Jerusalem because of their feast (the Jewish fifth feast) which comes 50 days ahead of Easter. They call it the Planting day and all the Jewish people offer some of their wheat to the temple.  When the people heard the noise, many of them were gathered around the home where the disciples were.  They were amazed of how the Galilean disciples know their languages.

+ Peter's speech as an example of the act of the Holy Spirit.
+ As a result of this speech, three thousand believed and joined the church and were baptized.
+ The servant should give the students some idea about the prayer service in the night of pentecost; "But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him"  (John 4:23).
