Notes for Servants

«         Many times we go through what the disciples went through, what do we do?  Do we do as they did?  Or do we do as we teach our children?

Story Time

                                                      Earthquake!

If Jesus were in terrible trouble, do you think He would cry or sing?  This story shows us what Jesus' followers did when they were in trouble.

Paul and Silas traveled around the country telling people the Good News about Jesus.  In the city of Philippi they got into some trouble.

Roman soldiers tore off Paul's and Silas' clothes and beat them with rods over and over again.  Then they threw them into jail.  And they pinned down their feet between large blocks of wood so they could not escape.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing songs to God.  The other prisoners were listening them.

Rumble ... RUMBLE . . . RUMBLE!  Suddenly there was a big earthquake!  The walls and ground shook.  All the jail doors came flying open.  The jailer thought his prisoners had escaped.  And he started to kill himself.

Paul shouted, "Don't hurt yourself!  We are all here."

The jailer fell down before Paul and said, "'What should I do to be saved?"  That night the jailer and his family believed in Jesus and were baptized.

Singing is a powerful way to teach other people the Good News about Jesus!
