Story Time
St. Peter was a fisherman. He had a boat and a net. He went to the lake everyday before sunrise to catch fish. He could catch a lot of fish in the dark, because the fish cannot see the net and it can be caught easily. He was catching fish near the shore because the water was calm there and had a lot of fish.
Today, St. Peter threw his net and waited for a long time, then he drew the net but there weren’t any fish. He threw the net in many times through out the morning, but caught nothing. He was tired and hopeless, he washed the net and left it to dry. He thanked the Lord and decided to go home.
St. Peter saw many people coming towards him. He saw the Lord Jesus among them. The people were very happy, they came to listen to His sweet words. Some of them were sick, but Peter saw them walking with Him and shouting and they were happy. Jesus got into St. Peter's boat, and spoke to the people who were very happy to hear Him. St. Peter was happy and desired to follow Jesus. After the sermon, Jesus said to St. Peter, "Peter," and St. Peter replied, "Yes, Lord." Jesus said, "Take the boat out further to the deep water and let your nets down for a catch." Then, he said, "Master, we worked hard all night long and caught nothing. But if you say so, I will let down the nets."
St. Peter let the nets down and caught such a large number of fish that the nets were about to break. He called his partners in the other boat to come and help him. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. When St. Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' feet saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord."
He was astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken. Jesus said to him, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will catch men." St. Peter said, "Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? Would you please let me live with you?" The Lord Jesus said, "Come and be my disciple." St. Peter left the ship, the nets and everything and became Jesus' disciple.
