Notes for Servants

«        Joseph faced many troubles in his life:  his jealous brothers hated him, they dropped him in a well, they sold him for 20 pieces of silver to the Ishmalites, Potiphar's wife accused him and Potiphar put him into prison.

«        Through all those troubles he did not defend himself. However, with faith, God blessed him at the end.

«        The Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy and gave him grace and favour in the sight of the people around him.

Story Time

Joseph loved his father and always obeyed him. His dad loved him too and made a beautiful coat of many colours for him. Joseph loved his brothers too, but they were mean to him because he has nice dreams and a beautiful coat.

One day, Jacob asked Joseph to take some food to his brothers while they were looking after the sheep.  When they saw Joseph coming, they took his coat and they dropped him in a pit (big hole in the ground).  Then, they saw a caravan going to Egypt. They took Joseph out of the pit and sold him to these people, who took him to Egypt.

In Egypt the Lord was with Joseph and he found grace in Pharaoh's sight and made him a governor over all Egypt because of his wisdom.  Joseph had a lot of food:  wheat and corn, while there was a famine (no food) everywhere.  When Jacob heard that there is food in Egypt, he sent his sons to Egypt to buy food and wheat, but when Joseph saw his brothers he knew them, but they did not know him.

He gave them what they needed but he wanted to see his father.  Joseph ordered his servants to put his silver cup in the sack of his youngest brother.  When Joseph's brothers returned to him because of the silver cup, he introduced himself to them, they bowed to him just like in his dreams.

Then, he threw his arms around Benjamin and hugged him, and kissed each of his brothers in turn and wept for joy.
