Notes for Servants

Cooperation is not just a lesson to teach to the children, but it is a life we must live as servants before we teach it.

Are we, as servants, cooperating to improve our service? Do we help in the various service activities? and do we put our hands together for the best enjoyable time?

Objectives

General: Cooperation.

Specific:

The children will be able to ...

  1. Learn the meaning of the word cooperation.
  2. Understand how to apply cooperation in class and at home.
  3. Know that there is always good results when we cooperate.

Bible Verse

"At thy word, I will let down the net."

Luke 5:5

Teaching Aids

  1. Felt figures.
  2. you may get a small net and some plastic fish.
  3. Acting like fishermen laying down their net, and catching fish.

Introduction

(1) Review last week's lesson.

(2) Remind the children about the church occasions for the coming week.

(3) Give the children an idea about the sea, the fish living in the sea, fishing(catching fish), using nets, and the fishermen that do their fishing at night when the fish is asleep. (4) Servants should show children, by acting, how fishermen lay their nets, and let them imagine the fish trying to get out of the net.

(5) Explain to the children that God created fish for us to eat.

(6) Teacher should prepare the appropriate questions to emphasize the objectives during the lesson.

Story Time

Simon Peter was a fisherman, at night he used to take his friends to catch fish, and in the morning they would sell the fish and buy food for their families.

One night they took two boats to go fishing, they were sure that they will catch lots of fish. They tried ... and tried all night long, they did not sleep one second, they went everywhere in the sea even to very far places, but they could not catch even one fish. They are so tired and so sad (no fish no money to buy food).

When morning came they gave up and decided to go home and when they reached the shore (the land) they found Jesus teaching people. Simon and his friends felt happy to see Jesus and they told him everything that happened to them. Jesus told them "I will come with you to help you." They obeyed Jesus and they let their nets down. Simon Peter waited for a little, then he pulled the net ... he could not, it was so heavy, so he called his friends in the other boat to help him.

They came so fast to help him, they pulled together(cooperated) until they got it out. It was a very nice surprise for them ... the net was full of all kinds of fish. They filled Peter's boat and they still had more fish, so they filled the second boat. They were very happy to cooperate and they thanked Jesus so much for his help.

Discussion

1 - Follow up the story by talking about it with the children.

2 - Continue the discussion while they do the activity.
