Notes for Servants
If we teach the children not to be greedy and to practice the virtue of sufficiency, we must also practice it ourselves.
Satisfaction is a great virtue, and if you have it, you will not feel that you are missing anything, no matter how little you have, even if you do not have anything at all.
Objectives
General: Teach the children satisfaction.
Specific:
The children will be able to ...
- Learn to be satisfied with what they have or receive.
- Know that, even if there is nobody around to see what we do, Jesus is watching every one of us all the time.
- Control themselves when they see something they love.
Bible Verse
"And having food and raiment let us be there with content." 1 Timothy 6:8
Teaching Aids
- Jar with a narrow opening enough to allow for the child's hand to go in and out with one or two candies.
- Fill the jar with candy.
- After the story asks one of the children to put his hand inside and pick as much as he can and try to get his hand out.

Story Time
Once upon a time, there was a family that had three children There were two boys: Peter and Joseph, and their sister Mary. The three of them used to pray every morning before they went to school and every night before they go to sleep. Because they were good, their Dad brought them some very nice candy and their Mom put the candy in a jar. Every morning their mom used to give every one of them two pieces of candy and they were happy.
One day Peter did something bad, he wanted to take some candy without permission. He looked around to make sure that nobody saw him and he opened the candy jar, put his hand in the jar and grabbed a bunch of candy, and tried to take it and hide it for himself. Oops! he can not get his hand out of the jar. Peter cried loudly for somebody to help him get his hand out. Everybody came when they heard Peter crying, “What happened?” His mother asked. Peter told his mother what he did. His mother asked him to open his hand and leave the candy, Peter did what his mother told himand his hand came out of the jar.
Peter apologized to his mother, his mother told him that because he was greedy and wanted to take candy without permission, his hand got stuck in the jar. Peter felt ashamed of himself and promise not to do this again.
