Story Time

As Jesus and his followers were walking along through the city of Jerusalem, they a man who had been born blind. Jesus' followers asked Him, “Teacher, why was this man born blind? Was it because he sinned or because his parents sinned?"

Jesus answered, "Neither his sins nor his parents' sins have anything to do with his blindness. He is blind so that God can show his power and heal him. As long as it is the day, we must do the work of God, who sent me into the world. The night is coming when no one can work. While I am in the world, I bring light to the world."

After Jesus had said this, he spat on the ground and made some mud with the spit. He rubbed the mud on the man's eyes, then said to him, "Go and wash your face in the pool of Siloam."(The name Siloam means "Sent.") The man went and washed his face, and when he came back, he could see. Then his neighbors and the people who had seen him begging asked one another, "Isn't he the man who used to sit and beg?"Some of the people said, "Yes," but others said, "No, he just looks like him." But the man himself said, "I am the one who used to sit and beg." The people then asked him, "How is it that you can now see? He answered, "The man named Jesus made some mud, rubbed it on my eyes, and told me to go to the Pool of Siloam and wash my face. I went, and as soon as I had washed my face, I could see." "Where is that man?" they asked. He answered, "I don't know."

When Jesus met him again asked him, "Do you put your trust in God's Chosen Man?" He answered, "Sir, tell me who he is, so that I can put my trust in him." Jesus said to him, "You have already seen him. He is the one who is talking with you now." "I put my trust in you, Lord!" the man said, and he knelt down to worship Jesus.

Jesus said, "I came into this world to be a judge so that people who are blind could see and people who see would become blind."

Some of the men there heard Jesus say this, and they asked him, "Do you think we are blind too?" Jesus answered, "If you were really blind, you would not be guilty of sin. But you claim that you can see, and that means that you are still guilty of sin."
