Notes for Servants
The priest is God's image on earth, and for that, we should pay him the appropriate respect. We should understand that also the priest is a human under temptation like us, we should not judge him for he has his master who will judge him.
We should not have any doubt about the effect of the sacraments he performs because of his sins.
Objectives
General: Respect the priesthood.
Specific:
The children will be able to
- Learn to kiss the priest's hand and the cross when they see him.
- Know that when we kiss Abouna's hand, we receive a blessing.
- Understand that the priest is very important for us because he celebrates the Mass so we may have communion.
Bible Verse
“He that receiveth you receiveth me.”
Matthew 10:40

Story Time
Once upon a time, there was a very good monk who had the gift of seeing his guardian angel. His angel used to walk before him always and protected him from all the works of the devil.
One day he was chosen to be a priest. When he walked out of the church after his ordination he did not see his angel in front of him as usual. He was afraid that the angel left him, so he started to look around him. Then he saw the angel behind him. He was very happy and asked the angel, “why do you walk behind me now and not in front of me like before?” The angel answered saying: “Because you are a priest now which makes you above the angels.”
Now every time we see Abouna we should greet him and kiss his hand and the cross.
Discussion
1 - Follow up the story by talking about it with the children.
