Story Time

Once upon a time there was an old man named Isaac who had two sons: Esau and Jacob.  When the time come for Jacob to marry his father sent him away to find a wife.

Jacob went to visit his uncle who lived in another country and stay there for sometime.  Jacob hugged his parents and kissed them and took some food and water to drink on his way.  This was the first time for him to travel alone and he was scared of the wild animals in the dessert.

(Explain that Jacob was afraid because he was alone and away from his home and God sent his angels to comfort him.  Do not mention the birth right or that Esau wanted to kill him.)

When the night came it was so dark and cold and he could not find a place to sleep.  He missed his bed so much!  He stopped and prayed to God and went to sleep on the ground with no bed or covers.

While he slept he had a very nice dream.  He saw a very long staircase going up to heaven and many bright angels going up and down in white clothes.

After that, he saw God coming down to him and say, "Jacob, do not be afraid, I love you, I will take care of you all the time and I will give you this place to be your home."

Next, the angels came to him and told him, "Jacob you are lucky.  God loves you and he talked to you, do not be afraid of anything."

Jacob woke up very happy and he said, "I have to build a church for God in this nice place."  He took a long stick and put it in the ground so he could build a church when he returns.  He prayed to thank God for his love and care and went his way to visit his uncle.
