Lesson No. ( 36 )

Matthew 5:1-12.

Notes for Servants

Beloved servants, we teach the children to listen to God when He talks to them, do we give Him the chance to talk to us? Do we open the Bible to hear what He wants to say to us? The Bible is the main source of our spiritual life. As we feed our bodies daily to keep them healthy, we should feed our souls daily to grow spiritually.

Objectives

General: Listening to God when we do anything.

Specific:

The children will be able to ...

  1. Understand that we should do what God says all the time.
  2. Know that they are listening to God when they come to church.
  3. Know that they are listening to God in Sunday School.

Bible Verse

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

Teaching Aids

None.

Introduction

(1) Review last week's lesson.

(2) Remind the children about the church occasions for the coming week.

(3) Teacher should prepare the appropriate questions to emphasize the objectives during the lesson.

Story Time

The teacher heard a scream, she looked around the room. She could hardly believe what she saw. In the corner of the room near the toy box, Kenny and Jimmy were fighting over a truck. "Give me the truck," said Kenny. "No, I had it first," Jimmy answered holding the truck tightly.

The teacher walked over to the boys and asked them, "Boys, are you listening to God?" The boys stopped fighting and looked up to the teacher. "Listening to God?" Asked Kenny. "But I can't hear God."

"Never heard God talk?" The teacher looked surprised. "Well, maybe you weren't listening to the right way. Come over here, boys."

Kenny and Jimmy followed the teacher to her desk. "Canyoutellme what this book is?" Looking at the book Kenny said, "Oh, yes, I can. That's the Bible."

"Yes," said the teacher. "The Bible is God's Book. That's how he talks to us, in the Bible. We don't listen to God like this," the teacher is cupping her hand to her ear.

The boys were listening now. They wanted to know what God said in the Bible. The teacher told them that the Bible said little boys shouldn't fight and argue. They should always share their toys. The teacher asked the boys if they understand what God is saying and they both nodded their heads and were going to share the toys.

Later in the day, the children were playing in the playground. As the teacher looked around she saw one little girl, Sara, pick up a handful of sand and throw it at another girl. The teacher walked over to the sandbox and Sara said that she did not throw the sand. Sara was lying. "Sara," the teacher's face was sad, "you aren't listening to God. In the Bible, God says we need to tell the truth." Sara was a little girl who loved God very much and she was very sad that she lied. When the teacher asked Sara if she threw sand, Sara told the truth, since she loved God very much.

When it was time to clean up the room, most of the children were helpers, but not Joe. Joe was standing in the middle of the room crying. "I can't find my car, I looked everywhere." The teacher asked all the boys and girls if they had seen Joe's car. David said that he saw Tommy playing with it. The teacher asked Tommy if he had seen Joe's car. Tommy slowly pulled the car out of his pocket. The teacher asked Tommy if he was listening to God when he took the car. Tommy answered no because he cannot hear God. The teacher looked at the class and asked them how we hear God. Many children raised their hands. The teacher asked Jamie to give the answer. Jamie answered, "We don't listen to God with our ears. We listen to God in the Bible."

“That's right,” the teacher answered saying that God tells us not to take things that don't belong to us. Tommy went to Joe and said that he was sorry.

The teacher-reviewed what had happened during the day and the lessons they had learned about listening to God.
