Notes for Servants

Cooperation is not just a lesson to teach to the children, but it is a life we must live as servants before we teach it.

Do we, as servants, cooperate to improve our service? Do we help in the various service activities? and do we put our hands together to give the children the best and most enjoyable time possible?

Objectives

General: Cooperation.

Specific:

The children will be able to...

  1. Learn the meaning of the word cooperation.
  2. Understand how to apply cooperation in the classroom and at home.
  3. Know that there is always a good result when we cooperate.

Bible Verse

"Love One Another."

John 13:34

Teaching Aids

  1. Felt figures.
  2. Acting like blind and crippled.

Introduction

(1) Review last week's lesson.

(2) Remind the children about the church occasions for the coming week.

(3) Give the children an idea about blind and crippled people and how hard their lives are, we should have compassion for them.

(4) Servant should show the children, by acting, how blind people have a hard time finding their way, and how crippled people have a hard time moving from one place to another in a serious way. Do not allow them to laugh about it.

(5) Teacher should prepare the appropriate questions to emphasize the objectives during the lesson.

Story Time

Once upon a time, there were two men, one named Jack who was blind, and the other one named Nick who was crippled. Jack always loved to go to church. He woke up early on Sunday mornings and got ready quickly to go to church. Every Sunday, Jack has a hard time getting to church because he couldn’t see. His friend Nick also loved to go to church, but he had a problem because he couldn’t walk.

One day, Jack and Nick got together and started thinking about the solution to their problem so they may go every Sunday and enjoy the liturgy without a hard time. While they were thinking, Jack jumped joyfully and cried out, “I’ve got it, I’ve got it!”

“What? What?!”Asked Nick. Jack said, “We must both cooperate together to do this. I can walk but I cannot see my way and you can see but you cannot walk.” Nick said, “What do you mean?” Jack continued, “I can carry you on my shoulders and you can direct me. This way we both may go to the church early and fast without any problems.”

They were so happy with the idea and they did that every Sunday. They went to the church and came back happily and God blessed them because they loved each other and cooperated together.

Discussion

1 - Follow up the story by talking about it with the children.

2 - Continue the discussion while they do the activity.
